Carlsborg Artisan Collective

  • Handmade Here

There are many amazing artists and makers right here in our own neighborhoods of Carlsborg, Agnew, Dungeness and Sequim. You’ll find beautifully crafted goods from the Carlsborg Artisan Collective through out the store. All celebrate the skill, quality materials and integrity that we strive for in all of our merchandise. For some this is their day job. For others something they do on the side. For all a passion they long to share. Come by and meet some of our local makers…

Our Carlsborg Artisan Collective members meet our criteria for handmade craftsmanship, sustainable natural materials and overall store ambiance. We do consignment so the artisan keeps the majority of each sale and is actively part of our store team. If you are interesting in joining the collective swing by the shop to introduce yourself and make an appointment.

Here are some of the local makers you’ll find in the store :

Dang Brave Girl Jewelry - Jamie Bickle

Jamie, a Carlsborg local, came to silversmithing while navigating the loss of her son in 2011.

This life saving and life changing craft has made her the maker she is, creating meaningful and wearable art for others. You will see trees, mountains, suns and mindful words to encourage you.

Grounded by loss, lifted by hope and connected through love, she has found measurable peace and belonging in this way of living.

Lost Mountain Pottery - Jennifer Duncan-Taylor

Jennifer was just a “hobby potter” for 30 years until she retired from teaching high school biology. Now she works with clay full time, running her own studio with 15-20 regular participants. “I love the peaceful and contemplative art of working with clay and have a renewed fascination with combining glazes in layers of rich colors with one-of-a-kind results, creating effects that mimic movement and flow.”

She uses a medium-fire (2200∞F) white porcelain -stoneware clay.  All of her pieces are individually thrown on the wheel, no molds or forms.  She uses only lead-free and cadmium-free glazes so that every piece is food safe, microwave, oven and dishwasher safe. “I want to focus on making pottery that is durable and beautiful so that it will be enjoyed for many generations in your family.”

Marilyn Brock - Glass Art

Over 30 years as a glass artisan, Marilyn Brock creates stained and fused (warm) glass pieces. Inspiration for her artwork comes from nature, imagination, and the patterns, textures, and colors of the glass. Weekly classes available in her Carlsborg studio for learning and networking.

Olympic Jars - Toni Harm & Jennifer Tadlock

Olympic Jars was launched in the Sequim-Carlsborg area in 2019, inspired by a European gift jar between friends. Our all-inclusive stitchery kits feature Japanese sashiko and cater to all skill levels. The final result is a unique, functional piece of art. Head to our You Tube channel for video instructions.

Tina Reaume - Fabric Baskets

Tina was born in Port Angeles and has spent most of her life on the Olympic Peninsula. Raised off the grid with five brothers and 15 miles to the nearest neighbor, making ‘stuff’ was her pastime.

She has created all manners of things - painting, drawing, sewing and more. Her first art teachers were her great aunt, a Dominican Nun, who taught her perspective and color. And, her Ojibwa grandmother who taught her traditional beading and sewing or ‘fancy work’ as she called it.

For Tina it’s all about color. She loves the challenge of making baskets because she is limited by the repurposed fabrics she finds. Experimenting, discovering, and coming up with new ideas is the fun part. Every basket she makes with excitement to see the finished product and lastly the button sewed on with love for you.

Wildflower Weaving -Julie Poole

Wildflower Weaving came to life in Sequim in 2023 when Julie, retired from a long career as a school Psychologist, found a hidden passion for weaving. Inspired by Julie’s lifelong love of nature, color, design and the breathtaking beauty of nature here in the Pacific Northwest. Wildflowers, specifically, provide artistic allure and joy because of their spontaneity of color, place in the natural environment, and playfulness. Each piece of fiber art is unique and one of a kind just like their inspiration. Carefully hand crafted on a wood loom these woven works of art are made with hand dyed yarn, quality natural fibers and love.

Wildflower Weaving includes both wearable and decorative fiber art. They are created using hand selected yarns including small batch hand dyed fibers made of organic cotton, fine cashmere, superfine merino wool, bamboo, and raw wool fiber. Wearable art includes scarves, shawls, wraps, and ponchos. Decorative art includes table runners and tapestries.
